PMP Exam- Security Update 2023

Due to various complaints PMI received on the (PMP)® exam security (majorly for OPT-Online Proctored Test) and by some unscrupulous and unprofessional conduct of few exam takers, which were exposed all along, PMI has decided to enhance the PMP exam security and reassure all the exam takers of the fairness and validity of the testing process and uphold the integrity of PMP® certification.

Advanced Data forensics was used to detect misconduct. This ensures that additional security protocols can be followed and that all candidates are taking the exam for themselves and are not leveraging proxy testing services.

Impact on Exam Taker: High

Effective Date: 25th September, 2023

The following are the points to note:

Exam Results

• Earlier, exam results were disclosed immediately after the exam.
• In the new scheme, the exam results will be disclosed within 48 hours of the exam.
• This is done only after the successful completion of a security audit using enhanced data forensics.
• The exam taker will get an email from PMI with the exam results
• For Center Based Test at Pearson VUE testing centre, the results are declared instantly after the exam, but for Online Proctored Tests, this change is applicable and the result will be declared within 48 hours of the exam.

Security Failure

• If misconduct was found, the exam was invalidated.
• The candidate will receive an email notification that their score has been cancelled and will not be provided.

Exam Retake if invalidated

• Candidates who receive a security failure can only retake the exam in person (CBT) and at their own cost.
• The security failures will count towards 3 PMP® exam attempts offered by PMI to all the exam takers within the application eligibility period.
• To safeguard the integrity of the exam, candidates who receive an exam security failure will not be permitted to take the PMP online and must retake the test in person.

Advice

Better not to opt for OPT (Online Proctored Test) to save oneself from all kinds of troubles.

No other changes happened in the exam pattern or the questions.

Recommendation

Please do not encourage or spare those who approach you with offers like “pay only after you pass”, “proxy exam taking” etc. Please report them to PMI  and not fall under their trap.

There is no way to cheat in the PMP exam.
